Most Wins By A Team In Women’s T20 World Cup (2026 List)

PublishedJuly 1, 2026

Teams have completed nine tournaments since then, and the 10th edition is currently underway in England (June-July 2026). Only four teams have won the trophy. Australia, England, the West Indies, and New Zealand are the only champions.

Australia leads the pack with six titles. England, the West Indies, and New Zealand have each won the tournament one time.

Winning titles is not the whole story. Several teams win matches consistently in every tournament. Australia holds the record for the most total wins by a large margin. England, New Zealand, the West Indies, and India follow them on the list.

Here is a look at the teams with the most wins in the history of the competition.

One of Australia’s most memorable victories came in the 2020 final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. They beat India by 85 runs in front of a record 86,174 spectators.

Meg Lanning captained the team to four World Cup titles. Stars like Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, and Alyssa Healy played key roles in their dominance.

Australia’s only Women’s T20 World Cup final defeat came in 2016. West Indies Women defeated them by eight wickets at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

2. England Women – 31 Wins from 42 Matches

England won the first Women’s T20 World Cup in 2009. They beat New Zealand by 5 wickets in the final at Lord’s. Claire Taylor scored 199 runs across the tournament and won the Player of the Tournament award.

They reached the final again in 2012 but lost to Australia by 4 runs. Their consistent run of knockout appearances reflects a strong domestic system and reliable squad depth.

England hosts the 2026 edition. A win on home soil makes them the second team after Australia to win multiple Women’s T20 World Cup titles. Charlotte Edwards captained them to the 2009 title.

3. New Zealand Women – 27 Wins from 42 Matches

New Zealand won their first Women’s T20 World Cup title in 2024. They beat South Africa by 32 runs in the final at Dubai. Sophie Devine captained the side.

Amelia Kerr won the Player of the Tournament award with 135 runs and 15 wickets across the event.

They reached the final three times before they finally won. They lost in 2009 to England and in 2010 to Australia. They eventually won in 2024. Their wait of 15 years between the first final and the title shows how hard this tournament is to win.

New Zealand played 42 matches in the tournament and won 27. This places them third on the all-time list.

Sophie Devine and Suzie Bates were the two constants in New Zealand’s batting across multiple editions. Amelia Kerr emerged as their match-winner in recent years with both bat and ball.

4. West Indies Women – 23 Wins from 39 Matches

West Indies won the title in 2016. They beat defending champions Australia by 8 wickets at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Hayley Matthews scored 66 to set up the run chase. Stafanie Taylor took key wickets and scored 246 runs across the tournament. She won the Player of the Tournament award.

The context made the 2016 victory special. On the same day, the West Indies men also won the T20 World Cup. This was the first time the men’s and women’s teams of a country won ICC T20 World Cups on the same day.

West Indies won 23 matches from 39 in the tournament. They rank fourth on the all-time wins list. They had an inconsistent run after the 2016 title but remain a dangerous team when their batters click.
